Our mission is to improve pathways to success by providing all children in D.C. with opportunities to hone their physical and interpersonal skills and experience the challenges and lessons of winning and losing, regardless of race, gender or socioeconomic status. Studies show that youth who participate in athletics and extracurricular activities are less likely to exhibit delinquent behavior, participate in criminal activity, or resort to drug use, drinking or alcohol abuse. Further, there has been a direct correlation between youth participation in athletics and higher rates of self-esteem, healthier social relationships, and overall more successful outcomes in education, employment, and economic security. These youth typically live physically healthier lifestyles well into adulthood and have a unique understanding of how to operate as part of a team thereby equipping them with a strong work ethic.

The OCASE Foundation’s goal is to instill a lifelong passion for sports in youth that will help them reach greater achievement and increase opportunities for success in education and athletics. Our work is guided by the principle of intentional collaboration. We have established partnerships with organizations throughout the city dedicated to our common goal to support, promote and enhance existing programming and activities throughout the District. Our all-star sports extravaganza and commencing banquet, drives for coats, food, and school supplies, as well as our educational parent summits are strongly supported by our community partnerships creating a model of intentional collaboration and increasing the impact of existing community resources.
